10 Easy Dishcloth Free Crochet Patterns

Are you looking for a quick and relaxing crochet project?

Let’s talk about crocheted dishcloths!

We’ll cover everything you need to know about making this fun DIY project including lots of easy crochet patterns!

Crocheted dishcloths are simple squares that pack a punch of cleaning power in your kitchen.

What is the best crochet stitch for a dishcloth?

Due to the highly textured natured of crochet stitches, any stitch you choose will make a fabulous dishcloth!

That includes basic stitches such as single crochet, half, double crochet, and double crochet.

Some of my personal favorite stitches for dishcloths are the waffle stitch (see project #1, below) as well as highly textured stitches (see project #8 and 10, below).

Do crochet dishcloths work well?

Crocheted dishcloths are a must-have tool for your kitchen! They make cleaning up a breeze and are an excellent reusable substitute for paper towels.

In addition, you can also say good-bye to kitchen sponges when you replace them with crocheted dishcloths.

The slubbed quality of natural cotton combined with the texture of crocheted fabric makes crocheted dishcloths scrubby and ideal for washing dishes, cleaning pots and pan, as well as gentle enough for wine glasses and heirloom china.

Pro Tip: Keep a stack of crocheted dishcloths on hand so that you can toss the old one in the wash every couple days and have a fresh one ready to go.

What is the best yarn for dishcloths?

When buying yarn for dishcloths, choose a 100% cotton is the best yarn for dishcloths and washcloths. A worsted/aran weight cotton CYC #4 works well for this type of project because it’s not too thin or not too thick.

Since cotton yarn is machine washable, it’s easy care which is my favorite reason for choosing cotton.

In addition, cotton is absorbent and has lots of natural texture. Both of these properties make them ideal for dishcloths.

Here are the BEST cotton yarns for dishcloths and they can be used in ANY of the dishcloth patterns shown in this post.
