Jakku Jakku Cowl Knit Along

Jakku Jakku Cowl Knit Along

For our Spring/Summer Knit Along (KAL) we're going to be knitting up a cowl of my own design, named after a planet in the recent Star Wars movie. I loved the fashion in the movie (I know... most people go for the action/storyline, apparently I go for the apparel) and thought this cowl would be appropriate for a character to wear on Jakku.

This is a fun one-skein project. I hope you’ll join us. Click for all the details!

How to Knit Socks from the Toe-Up

How to Knit Socks from the Toe-Up

Ready to learn a few new skills and up your knitting game? Then join me as we knit along together to create cushy pair of socks the toe-up way!

We won't need to be a whiz with double pointed needles or the magic loop either. For this knit along, we'll learn to use 2 circular needles to work those small areas, create a seamless toe, a no-gusset (i.e. easy) heel and the perfect stretchy bind-off worked with reverse yarnovers. This is going to be one of the easiest and fastest socks ever!

Introducing the Fitz Mitts Knit Along

Fitz Mitts Knit Along

Fitz Mitts Knit Along

fitz mitts

Who out there hasn't heard of and loves the Starz series, Outlander! I certainly do, and I'm a huge fan of the gorgeous chunky knits worn by those Highlanders.

Among my favorite pieces are these earthy mitts, inspired by "Mrs. Fitz" and I had to have a pair for myself.  I had such fun making them that I thought that you would, too!

A Little About This Knit Along
These mitts are so easy they will practically knit themselves. . . no complicated stitches or shaping!  And did I mention it's a 1 skein and 1 size fits all project?  The sizing is generous - 9" diameter and 10 1/2" long.

Never worked double pointed needles?  Then there's no better time to learn or a better project to learn on. This is an ideal first-time double point knitting project.

For this KAL we'll be using Berroco Inca Tweed yarn. Inca Tweed is a lofty, thick-and-thin, chunky weight, 2-ply yarn that knits up quickly and is hand washable.  As you knit and wear your mitts, a halo forms which enhances the softness and visual appeal.  It is also an easy yarn to work making it an all around winner.  I think it's just perfect!

Hantsuki Shawl Knit Along

Hantsuki Shawl Knit Along

Welcome to the Hantsuki Knit Along! In Japanese, Hantsuki means "half moon" and that perfectly describes the shape of this delicate shawl project we are about to knit together.

A Little About This Knit Along

Hantsuki a wonderfully floaty, feminine and gracious shaped caplet. You can casually sling over bare shoulders this summer, or layer over a tee or sweater as the weather cools. Take her out to a movie, dinner or the simple pleasure of a summer walk on the beach. She'll soon become your BFF, I promise!

Using Just the Right Yarn

The secret behind Hantsuki is the yarn. If you don't know Berroco Folio, you're missing out on a real treat. This Superfine Alpaca/Rayon blend yarn provides you with a featherlight fiber that is extremely soft and drapey.
