Once we get through the holidays and knitting for everyone else, it’s a great time for some selfish knitting.

When is the last time you made a sweater for yourself?

I’ve rounded on 12 absolutely gorgeous sweaters you can knit and wear now.

There are lots of Fair Isle stranded-colorwork sweaters, yoke necklines, and seamless and top-down construction.

You’ll also find both oversized and cropped styles, an old-motif sweater, and even a sweater inspired by Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Soldotna is simple enough for an adventurous beginner, yet still engaging for advanced knitters. Best of all, the cropped length and sleeveless style make this a super quick and gratifying project.

#2. Arboreal Pullover Sweater Knitting Pattern

Arboreal is worked seamlessly from the top down. The stranded yoke is worked and then short row shaping is added on the back to shape the shoulders and neckline. The sleeves and body are separated and worked top down. Optional, gentle waist shaping makes for a feminine fit.

It’s fun and meditative to watch the leaves grow as the yoke is knitted. The chart is easy to follow and memorize and is suitable for a beginner, calling for only two colors.
