#1. Father Christmas Ornaments Knitting Pattern

Pick your favorite weight of yarn (fingering to worsted) and knit up a few Father Christmas Ornaments. Knit one to embellish with embroidery or follow the pattern for a bit of traditional colorwork. A perfect gift or a keepsake for your own home, these are a quick knit that is sure to please.

Father Christmas was a medieval Yule Tide visitor, the first appearing ancient British mid-winter festivals. Representing the coming of spring, he would wear a long, green hooded cloak and a wreath of holly, ivy or mistletoe.

#8. Oatmeal the Snowman Knitting Pattern

“What will we call him?”
“Yeah, shall we call him Harold?” “Or Bruce?” “Or Christopher Columbus?”
“How about Oatmeal?” ALL: “Oatmeal!?”
-Frosty the Snowman, 1969

Oatmeal the Snowman is a friendly winter companion, and would look amazing sitting on just about any mantle or kid’s bed. His body is worked in Cascade Lana Grande, making him a big, quick project. Since the yarn is so thick and the cable pattern is so simple, it’s a good project for cabling without a cable needle. His arms and nose are knitted in worsted weight yarn. He has classic button eyes and you can put pipe cleaners in his arms to make them poseable.

If you are making Oatmeal to be more a toy than a display item, you could leave out the pipe cleaners and sew on felt eyes, and he would be an appropriate softie for baby.

Chocolate Oranges have become a must-have holiday tradition in my house. The aroma of the orange is delightful and there’s always an argument over who gets to bang the orange on the table to make the slices appear. Fun!

That’s why I had to include this adorable Elf Hat project. It’s a hat you can knit just for this holiday treat.

Knit one for yourself or knit a bunch and give them as a festive gift covering a chocolate orange.

#12. Winter Village Christmas Ornaments Knitting Pattern

The 7 miniature ornaments featured in“Winter village” found it’s inspiration from a Swedish countryside hamlet around Christmas-time. In a small village covered by snow you should be able to adventure them all: the Christmas tree, the heart, Sankta Lucia, the small wooden house painted in red with white plaster-work (“Torpet”), the “Pepparkaksgubbe” (gingerbread made into the shape of a man), the Christmas tree - and of course; the fat cat to chase the mice and drink the milk left out for Sankta Klaus.

All of the miniatures, with exception of the small house, could be stuffed or unstuffed - meaning that you can use them for multiple purposes: bookmarks, table decorations, hanging decoration
