Summer has come to a close, but the knitting season is just getting started. Here’s a rundown of the most popular projects on everyones’ needles.
Shawls and cowls took a backseat this summer. In the past few years, those projects always took the top spots. Not this year.
Let’s take a look at what knitters like you were making all summer long!
The most popular patterns on everyone’s needles were loaded with texture. Check out the top three projects: two stitch-block baby blanket patterns and a diamond-stitch cardigan. It wasn’t your plain old boring beach-chair knitting. Knitters wanted interesting and they found it in the form of fun knitting and purling variations.
This summer had more sweater projects in the top 10 than I can remember in a long time. The silhouettes were clean, simple and modern. As you can see knitters got an early jump on Christmas knitting, too. This cable knit Christmas ball ornament is a fast and fun small project you can knit for friends and family.

Half of the top 10 list is sweaters. All of these are perfect for multi-seasonal wear and use simple stitches to create must-wear garments.
Even though shawls and cowls weren’t at the top of the list, these two took positions nine and ten. Both feature simple eyelet lace. Eyelets like this are the perfect way to try out lace knitting.
