Cable Bag Knit Along - Part 2

From all the emails I've received, I know so many of you are anxious to get going on part 2!
So here we go!

If you've cabled before just go ahead and work round 8, then skip the pictures. If you've never cabled before. Please READ the round then look at the pictures/tutorial for how a cable stitch is made.

Round 8: *Purl 3 sts, (slip next 3 sts onto cable needle as if to purl. Place cable needle in back to be worked later, then knit next 3 sts from your knitting needle. Now knit the 3 sts from the cable needle), purl 3 sts, knit 2 sts.* Repeat from * to* around to beginning stitch marker.

The photos below are details of how the cable stitch is actually worked:

Note the section in ( ) above. These are the 6 stitches that will be cabled.

In an ordinary stitch row you work the stitches from RIGHT to LEFT in the order shown 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. But in a cable section, note the way the order of your stitches will change. Stitches 1, 2, 3 will be placed on the cable needle and set aside, so you can knit stitches 4, 5, 6. Then stitches 1, 2, 3 are knit from the cable needle.

Stitches 1, 2, 3 are slid onto the cable needle.

Stitches 4, 5 , 6 have been knit. Now I'm about to knit stitches 1, 2, 3 from the cable needle.
PS. Yes, I know...the closeup of my nails reminds me I'm in desperate need of a manicure!

Wow! Cable completed! You are now a cable diva!!!

Now continue working rows 1-8 as follows:
Rounds 1 - 7: *Purl 3 sts, knit 6 sts, purl 3 sts, knit 2 sts.* Repeat from * to* around to beginning stitch marker.
Round 8: *Purl 3 sts, (slip next 3 sts onto cable needle as if to purl. Place cable needle in back to be worked later, then knit next 3 sts from your knitting needle. Now knit the 3 sts from the cable needle), purl 3 sts, knit 2 sts.* Repeat from * to * around to beginning stitch marker.

Repeat these 8 rounds until you have completed 6 cables. Work rounds 1-3, then bind off in established stitch pattern. See you next Monday for attaching the suede and lining the bag!

Please don't forget to post if you have questions! Have fun!
