Hello NobleKnitters. It's Donna and I'm the knitting doctor here at NobleKnits. Today I'm here to share a short video with you on a little beauty from Berroco, it's called Folio.
Folio is an alpaca blend yarn. It's 65% alpaca and 35% viscose. To take a look at the product, click the link below and you'll be able to see the full product line. There are 16 shades in the Folio yarn collection.
Let me tell you a little bit about this yarn. So, if you can see here, it's really very soft. It knits at a DK weight..it's really what I like to refer to as a variable weight yarn. The needle size suggested is a size US 5 to get a gauge of 5.5 stitches per inch but it performs equally well with higher or lower needle sizes so you just want to maybe swatch a little bit.
Two of these balls will actually make a nice size capelet. There is a free (with Folio yarn purchase) pattern to make the capelet on our website. The pattern is called Hantsuki. So this is going to give you a nice sized project with just two balls.
Let's just take a look at the fiber itself. The fiber itself because of the alpaca content is going to have a halo. So this halo is going to give you that softness and that loft. The viscose is going to give you the drape. So if you chose to make a lace creation out of this, know that you'll also be able to block this beautifully. I myself actually created the Hantsuki capelet. I blocked it with a hand steamer and I really got several more inches out of it. It was just as beautiful after it was blocked as it was before. So, I lost none of the resiliency, none of the halo - again a nice, nice fiber.
Take a look at this yarn. There is really a beautiful color range here. From the brights that I'm showing you now, to the more elegant subdued shades. There's a black, there's some beiges, a couple of shades of lavender, a red...just a really great selection.
There's also about 10 Berroco patterns for this yarn. They are pay patterns, but take a look at them...they are made for the Folio yarn. I do not think you'll be disappointed.
I hope you weren't disappointed in the video or the yarn review either. So if you like this video, give us a thumbs up, subscribe to our You Tube channel, and comment below. Thanks!
