Sweet! Free Baby Blanket Knitting Pattern

One of our favorite baby yarns from Plymouth Yarn Company now has a free pattern! Plymouth Sweet Caroline is a soft, machine washable cotton dappled with flecks of fun colors. Use it to knit this adorable scalloped baby blanket project. The pattern makes an 18 x 20" blanket, just right for snuggling or packing in a car seat or stroller. The yarn is double throughout, so it knits up quickly, woo-hoo!

You'll need just one ball each of 5 different colors of Plymouth Sweet Caroline yarn and size US 15 circular 24" knitting needles.

  1. Love the blanket but wonder about the baby's hands/fingers getting caught in the big holes/openings in the stitches.

  2. I love this type of pattern, but I have to agree with Jane. When I make a baby blanket, I always make them with very minimal or no holes because I am afraid of little fingers/toes getting stuck in the holes. You may be able to achieve a similar scalloped look by replacing every (k1, yo) with a (kfb), still providing the necessary increase, but without the hole. I've done this with Feather & Fan with much success. Happy knitting!
